i went to nursing school with ashley. she was in my very first clinical group. we got to experience some interesting things together, that’s for sure! i was so excited to hear from her a few months ago when she told me she and her husband were expecting! at the time, she did not know the gender and was still in the early phase of planning for their precious baby! she told me once they knew the gender, she would like to schedule her session and begin planning the shoot. i was ecstatic. anytime a client wants to take an active part in planning their shoot…i let them!

ashley and i emailed back and forth to find the perfect look for her maternity shoot. a lot of the pictures we used for inspiration were shot with film. i absolutely LOVE the look of film and these were edited to reflect the look that fuji film produces in natural light.

we scheduled our session around sunset…and let me tell you…winter time sun, is not very predictable! we hid out in the shade beside a swamp {i know, it looks like a beautiful pond!} until the sun was about to set. then we moved to our second location at the river. the majority of ashley’s session took place at water based locations because they are doing their little girls nursery in a mermaid theme!
