i remember shooting my first roll of film…i was so nervous that i was doing it wrong! i kept telling my son, “sit still, this is manual focus!”…like a 1.5 year old should know what that means. i struggled with my little canon ae-1 my dad let me borrow. it was my mom’s camera when they first got married. she took it to italy with them when they were stationed there and she used it when my brothers and i were really little. i absolutely love looking through our old photos…and i absolutely love the look of the colors, the depth of field and the timeless look of our memories printed on paper. being able to shoot the same camera was so special to me! until i realized i couldn’t chase my toddler around with that thing on manual focus!
i invested a full $40 into a 35mm auto-focus film camera that i could use my lenses i had for my digital camera on it. i was so excited when it came in. i shot a few rolls outside, a few inside and started to find my groove with it.
i am happy to say, that i have now found how i like to shoot my film, my favorite film stocks and my favorite way to have them scanned!
here are a few film scans from our day at the park in february 🙂 it was really hard to get him to sit still enough on that log to even get a picture!!!i decided to just let him run wild while i played with the camera…he actually asked me to take some of him 🙂 and i was happy to oblige. if there is a stick, a rock or dirt…walker will find it 🙂
this kid has outgrown shoes this year like crazy! we can hardly wear them in before his toes are crunching the ends of them! i asked clint to take a few pictures once he showed up to the park, he took a lunch break to join us 🙂 i did not have to convince walker to love on his daddy…he is his favorite person right now!
