when it comes to being more than prepared for the details…my brides have really hit this one out of the park! during our bridal consultation at the beginning of our relationship, we talk heavily about wedding day timelines (click here for that post!), family portrait lists, and most importantly the details portion of their wedding day! why is it most important? i wouldn’t say it is the most important because of the content, but because of the timing. this is where i get warmed up. it is where i see what you have planned for the rest of the day. 9 times out of 10, my brides are getting ready at a separate location from the ceremony or reception. sometimes they’re at the same place but the decorations haven’t been completed when i arrive. because things are still being put together or i haven’t arrived at that location yet, i don’t really know the style that my bride has picked out for her wedding day. they do answer a questionnaire beforehand, but a lot of times “whimsical” or “modern” mean two completely different things to two different people.
another reason details should be high on the bride’s priority list is because they get their own spread or two in the bride’s heirloom wedding album. that means that at the beginning of the wedding album…when you start flipping through those magical thick pages, this is the first thing you will see!!! it sets the tone for the rest of your wedding album.
i give my brides a list of details to have ready as well as a suggested list of items they may want to include. this has helped with wedding day timing in so many ways! they know to keep all of the details together so i don’t have to ask them over and over again where something is when i’m ready to photograph it.
